Film jams are a fast-paced challenge that allow creators to push their skills to the limits and make great art. To celebrate the return to campus after a year of instability, the University of Northern Colorado’s Film Production Club will host a film jam over Labor Day weekend 2021.

Registration for the event opened August 9, and features categories for individuals and teams. The registration link can be found here.

A film jam is a challenge to create great films under a short time constraint. Inspired by games jams, film jams encourage creativity and problem-solving for artists. The goal of a film jam is to condense every part of the filmmaking process to its bare essentials, including development, writing, casting, production, and post-production.

Founded in 2016, FPC has long offered a place for filmmakers to grow their skills and their connections in Colorado’s growing film industry. Many FPC alumni have gone on to become successful directors, producers and actors after graduation. Films produced within the club have earned thousands of views on YouTube and have even been entered into local film festivals.

FPC also offers resources for up-and-coming filmmakers. Many films have been made on club equipment, and workshops on vital parts of the filmmaking process have guided filmmakers on their own projects.

By hosting this event, FPC hopes to expand the horizons of UNC filmmakers and allow friendly competition between artists with shared goals. More information about the event will be released as the date approaches and university policies surrounding COVID-19 and the Delta variant adapt.
